Yoga 4 Recovery
Facilitated by Joy & Jennifer
Yoga4Recovery is a transformation experience designed to align intention, community, and healing.
Within this sacred container, we journey together through the 12 steps, each step harmonized with the chakras, mudras, and mantras to support deep spiritual awakening and integration.
Together we invite you to “Trust in the Process” as you walk the step toward freedom, balance. And wholeness through Yoga4Recovery
Yoga4Recovery founded by Jenn Woodward LMFT, MS, Addiction Specialist, Gender Specialist, Trauma Informed Psychotherapist, Yoga, Sound and Reiki Practitioner. Co guided with Joy Wilkins massage, yoga, sound and reiki practitioner. Yoga4Recovery is a healing collaboration using the union of yoga and many recovery modalities in my experiential walk through the steps in many different ways both personally and professionally.
The moment Yoga4Recovery was born: The birth story
In the middle of my 200 hour yoga teacher training I was also in the process of becoming an ambassador for another program and walking through my own ongoing journey in recovery. Being in recovery for nearly two decades, and also spending over a decade healing from other challenges like debt, codependency, distorted eating, cancer, grief and loss I realized through it all , I learned that showing up for yourself exactly where you are is everything. Yoga has always been my way of embodying that truth. It connects mind, body, and spirit in a way that allows us to be fully present in our healing. During this time, my dear friend Corey Miller was fighting brain cancer. We had known each other for 19 years, but during his two year battle, our bond deepened. Everyday, we texted each other a gratitude list staying connected and accountable until he no longer could. When Corey passed, I went to his Celebration of life. I asked Joy to go with me and she said yes without hesitation. His famous quote was displayed on the wall. “Trust in the Process” At that moment , I knew something was being born.
I felt it deeply Yoga4Recovery was taking shape. I turned to Joy and let her know my thoughts. We went back to our hotel room, I started writing and sharing my vision: a space where recovery in all forms is welcome. A journey that blends the 12 steps with yoga’s spiritual and physical practices aligning with chakras, mudras, mantras, meditation, nourishing foods, education, philosophy, and devotion. Music and creativity have always been part of my healing singing, playing guitar, harmonium, hand drums, writing lyrics and poetry and any form of artistic expression. So naturally, they became part of Yoga4Recovery too.
It didn’t come together all at once. I met with Joy, talked to others in recovery, met with my mentors and had many discussions, writing everything down. It came together piece by piece as it unfolded working hours creating the curriculum. I began to see it one day at a time just like recovery.
Yoga4Recovery was born out of love, connection, and the belief that no matter what you’re healing from you can trust in the process.
